Phaeselous coccineus
Locally adapted seed of the classic runner bean. Yields prolifically.
Provide a trellis, teepee, or plant (corn, jerusalem artichoke, etc) for the beans to climb.
Young green beans are delicious blanched, and if you have a glut you can freeze blanched beans to last you all through winter.
Older beans do better with peeling the string off the side using a potato peeler and slicing the bean into sections before cooking.
Scarlet flowers are edible and the bees love them!
